HOW
We met
Love at first sight...
Our story began in Haiti, on December 23rd, 2010. We were both helpers at a Soup Kitchen Christmas Party that our Parish organizes every year for the less fortunate children of the neighborhood. We have been neighbors for decades but that day was the first time our path crossed. They say love at first sight does not exist but as we locked eyes that night, we both knew we had found our life partner but we were too shy to approach each other. Dora was tasked with the responsibility of capturing the moments of the event while Sandro was part of the group who made sure that every kid was in line to receive their meal. Needless to say, Dora captured Sandro's every movement as she knew those photos would create helpful memories.
We started attending church more often to increase the chances of bumping into each other again. And one day, after mass, our priest requested to have a meeting with us since we were the oldest of the youth group. His request was that we collaborate to put together a playlist for the next event which was a New Year Party for the founding members of the parish. Awesome!, we thought to ourselves as we were just given an opportunity to see each other, AGAIN! Little that he knew, he had just initiated a perfect opportunity for us to get to know each other and that's when we exchanged numbers.
Sandro spent the holiday courting Dora and even invited her to his annual college mate BBQ at his family home. There, Dora had her first glimpse at Sandro's family and closest entourage. We had the opportunity to attend several events and parties together but before we knew it, our vacation had ended. Although it was time to go our separate ways, we decided to give love a chance despite the long distance. Sandro was to travel back to Lafeyette, Louisiana and Dora to Sunrise, Florida. We survived the first three years of our long distance relationship by visiting each other as often as we could. In October 2011, Sandro surprised Dora with a visit to Florida. One night, after they had dinner, Sandro got on his knee with a promise ring: "I promise to make you my wife" he said to her. After Sandro graduated college in December 2013, he relocated to Florida in order to strenghten the relationship. The night of August 17, 2014 on a beautiful getaway to Naples, Florida for Dora's birthday, Sandro popped the big question. Today, as we plan our big day, we are delighted to embark married life together as we are comitted to continue this journey which has been nothing but exciting.
